Tough fights, hard loses, and dominating victories are great character tells for a team. How you carry yourself before, during and after a scrimmage; while telling, it is also defining.
OP4 started out its BF3 scrimmaging about two weeks after retail release of the game. We were completely unready. Our training courses were in transition to the new game, which is a monumental task to complete for many reasons. We are still finalizing some courses.
Our first scrim was against =WCK= West Coast Killaz... A GREAT clan that has been a loyal and weekly opponent for OP4. We were beaten rather soundly. Then we got the chance to mix it up with another long time rival =CKA= Canada Kicks Ass. . . It was a blast seeing the guys from CKA and we were proud to pull off a victory. Things were rusty and still lacked the OP4 standards of scrimmaging. We had too many untrained recruits and all of our instructors were trying to get them trained, finalize other training development as well as get some in-game experience.
Soon after, we were challenged and agreed to scrim a new BF3 clan, [BFG] Battlefield Grunts. This was our first scrim against another realism clan in BF3 and it was a complete disaster for OP4. [BFG] had complete control of all rounds. OP4 was in disarray, everything from communications to tactics were complete failures. We took a hard beating on an over-all bad night. OP4 never blinked and started fixing the problems immediately after the scrim . . . we took our lumps and started correcting the problems. Trainings started in earnest, the machine was refined and improved.
OP4 went on a winning streak and has really started to 'feel' this game and it's dynamics. Our squads were getting it done. During the last couple weeks here before Christmas, we scrimmaged against our buds over at =WCK=, [UB] United Brotherhood got back into the scrim scene and OP4 can't wait to get those weekly going full speed again. We met another clan [FuB], Fucked Up Brotha's . . .they are working on getting their numbers up but we had some fun with them and their friends despite continued server issues that kept us guessing a bit.
One of the best matches came in the 32 v 32 man rematch agaionst [BFG], in a round that started off worse for OP4 than anything we could have imagined and being down 100 tickets in mere minutes. . . to fight back and win the round by 2 tickets was nailbiting. We really look forward to more great fights with [BFG] as well.
OP4 challenged and defeated [BSM] British Sergeants' Mess in what was a good battle. There were some miscommunication issues and we agreed to their settings preferences. Once we acually started playing it was a blast. We have a standing offer out to host a rematch with [BSM] on our server and our settings.
We rode into BF3 maybe a bit arrogant as a clan, we took some lumps and then got back on our stride. I like the character that this clan has demonstrated. In fact, upon reflection, I have to say. . . OP4 in Yo Doah!! We plan, we plot, and we execute Like A Boss!
